pattern corrections
In an effort to make our patterns better and easier, we continually review and update our writing and instructions. We want to make sure that mistakes are caught. Sometimes that's not until it goes to press and that is why we've started this page for you. Once revisions are caught, they are put into production on patterns at the press, so you may or may not have to make these changes. We are very sorry for any mistakes, but we hope this helps. Click on the pattern below to find corrections, if your pattern isn't here...no worries!

pattern updates
I have received many e-mails and phone calls wanting to know ways to use my fabrics to make some of my earlier patterns. The earlier patterns I made with heavier Vintage or Vintage inspired fabric, which still looks great. I wanted to give you the option of using a lighter weight fabric such as any one of my fabrics in one of my fabric lines.

sewing pattern hints and tips
As we design and test each pattern, we use a multitude of very talented sewing friends who bring along years of experience. Over the years, we've come to trust their judgment and take to heart their good ideas, hints and tips. We want to share some of those ideas on the site with you. If YOU have a great idea that you find along the way, send it to us at orders@amybutlerdesign.com and we might just post it here! Thanks, and enjoy. -Amy

A helpful hint for the Weekender Travel Bag from Linda Kozienko:
I think I have made every bag pattern that has come out...the latest, and so far my favorite, being the Weekender Travel Bag. I discovered that with a little extra support in the bottom like a plexiglass piece, you can use the bag to carry a Singer Featherweight Sewing Machine in style. Thanks for so many great and different bags to make.
TIMTEX
SOME OF AMY'S PATTERNS USE TIMTEX (our favorite heavyweight interfacing). IT GIVES GREAT STRUCTURE AND FORM AND IS EASY TO WORK WITH.

CANVAS
WE'VE HAD SOME FOLKS ASK US WHAT CANVAS IS.

THE CANVAS WE USE IS A 10 OZ. COTTON CANVAS MADE BY THOMPSON MANUFACTURING. IT IS 60" WIDE. YOU CAN SUBSTITUTE THE CANVAS WITH NATURAL DUCK CLOTH MANUFACTURED BY SCHOTT INTERNATIONAL, INC. IT IS 100% COTTON AND IS ALSO 60" WIDE. BOTH OF THESE FABRICS ARE SIMILAR IN WEIGHT AND EITHER WILL WORK.
